Summary
Some 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine may exhibit excessive white or blue smoke from the exhaust at start up after a cold soak. This may be due to oil entering the left side turbocharger turbine housing. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the left side turbocharger oil supply tube with a revised part.

Issue: Some 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine may exhibit excessive white or blue smoke from the exhaust at start up after a cold soak. This may be due to oil entering the left side turbocharger turbine housing. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the left side turbocharger oil supply tube with a revised part.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:
- 2018-2020 F-150
- 2.7L EcoBoost engine
- Customer concern of excessive white or blue smoke from the exhaust at start up after a cold soak

Service Procedure
1. Does the customer concern include oil consumption, drivability symptoms, or any other concern along with smoke from the exhaust?
(1). Yes – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnostic (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnosis.
(2). No – proceed to Step 2.
2. Replace the left side turbocharger oil supply tube. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04F.
