Dana has identified a risk of having suspect bearing cups SPL 100, built in driveshafts supplied to FordeBay logo OHAP.

Suspect bearing cups might present through hardness condition, due to non-proper disposition of non-conforming material, during heat treatment process. Through hardness has been caused by excessive time on HT furnace, due to quench pumps down (out of service).

Bearing cups SPL 100 are manufactured by Dana Lima, built on driveshafts by Dana Louisville, and supplied to FordeBay logo OHAP.

A total of 240 FordeBay logo vehicles built in FordeBay logo OHAP are suspect, and might contain bearing cups presenting through hardness condition. No other FordeBay logo locations received suspect product.

The effect of the failure is premature failure of the U-joint. Dana’s containment had zero fall out after assembly process, indicating low risk of escapes. Even so, to eliminate the risk of having suspect material in our product, we recommend inspection and replacement of the potential nonconforming material.

Please provide us location of the suspect parts and vehicles, and Dana will conduct containment needed. Find attached list of vehicle serial numbers built with suspect bearing cups.
