| RATTLE NOISE UNDER VEHICLE – HEAT SHIELD CONTACT TO FLOOR PAN – VEHICLES BUILT ON OR BEFORE 8/7/2007 |

2006-2007 Front Wheel Drive (FWD) Fusion, Milan, 2007 MKZ vehicles built on or before 8/7/2007 and 2006 Zephyr vehicles may exhibit a customer concern of a rattle/vibration noise perceived to be coming from the console area or under the vehicle.
The rattle/vibration noise is most prominent during windy days where a crosswind is present and commonly occurs at approximate vehicle speeds between 50-70 MPH (80-116 Km/h).
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
- Inspect the heat shield wings positioned in the rear portion of the exhaust shield, above the muffler. (Figure 1)

- Verify that the two (2) wings are not touching the floor pan tunnel (Figure 2). If they are, proceed to Step 4. If not, follow the normal service diagnostic procedures.

- Pull the wings down vertically to achieve a minimum clearance of 3/4″ (20 mm). (Figures 3 and 4)
