SSM 47322 – 2018 F-150 – 5.0L – Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) – DTCs P0087 And/Or P00C6 After High Pressure Fuel Pump Replacement
Some 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 5.0L Port Fuel Direct Injected (PFDI) engine may exhibit an illuminated check engine lamp with DTC P0087 and/or DTC P00C6 stored in the PCM following a repair in which the fuel system was opened.
This concern may be due to not pressurizing the fuel system before starting the engine.
After reconnecting the fuel pump driver module (FPDM), cycle the ignition on and wait 3 seconds to pressurize the fuel system.
The Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-04 is being updated to emphasize this direction.
