2013-2017 Escape – Equipped with 1.6L / 1.5L GTDI Engine – Generator/Thermostat Workshop Manual (WSM) Procedure Update
Some 2013-2017 Escape vehicles equipped with a 1.6L or 1.5L gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) engine that require service to the generator or thermostat require the technician to raise the engine approximately 50mm (2 inches).
Raising the engine this amount may cause damage to the right inboard axle halfshaft constant velocity (CV) joint boot.
The WSM has been updated to remove the halfshaft as part of the generator service procedure.
Refer to WSM, Section 414-02 for an updated procedure.
