2014-2017 Fiesta And 2015-2017 Focus – 1.0L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) – Turbocharger Wastegate Rod Rattle

Some 2014-2017 Fiesta and 2015-2017 Focus vehicles with the 1.0L GTDI engine may exhibit a turbocharger wastegate rod rattle.

This may be due to the wastegate linkage.

This noise is considered normal and is not a sign of a defective turbocharger.

The wastegate rod has clearances built into the control linkage to accommodate thermal expansion.

The turbocharger should not be replaced for this condition.
