ISSUE:
Some 2012 Expedition and Navigator vehicles built on or before 11/31/2011 may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0135 and P0155. DTCs P0030, P0050, P0053, P0059, P0141, or P0161 may also be present.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Retrieve all DTCs in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Are DTCs P0135 and P0155 present?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnostics.
- Locate C146 in the right rear corner of the engine compartment. Separate the connector and inspect the pins carefully for signs of contamination, discoloration and/or moisture intrusion. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 152-1. (Figure 1)

- Yes – proceed to Step 4.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to PC/ED Manual for normal diagnostics.
- Replace connector pigtails on both the female and male sides following desired splicing method. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Section 5-1.
- Apply Motorcraft Electrical Grease to the connector terminals.
- Install the original harness retainer on the male connector and secure the harness.
