ISSUE:
Some 2013 Fusion and MKZ vehicles built on or before 1/8/2013 may exhibit a rattle noise from the interior door panel area over rough road surfaces. This noise can be isolated to the trim cover behind the interior door handle on any of the four doors.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Remove door trim cover. (Figure 1)
Figure 1 – Article 13-5-3- Using a suitable tool, pull the front of the trim cover first to prevent damage.
- If any of the four tabs are broken, replace the trim cover. Proceed to step 2.
- From the Rotunda Squeak and Rattle Kit (part number 164-R4900) select one PVC soft foam tape strip (part number 164-R4901).
- Cut a foam tape strip to a size of 10 mm (3/8″) wide by 25.4 mm (1″) long and apply it to the back side of the cover. (Figure 2)

- Install door trim cover.
