| 6.2L – WHISTLE NOISE AT 1500-2000 RPM – BUILT ON OR BEFORE 8/21/2015 |
| FORD | 2015-2016 F-250, F-350 |
ISSUE:
Some 2015-2016 F-Super Duty 250/350 vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine and built on or before 8/21/2015 may exhibit a whistle noise from the engine compartment at 1500-2000 RPM.
This condition may be attributed to the intake manifold hardware.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Using the Integrated Diagnostic Service (IDS) service tool or equivalent scan tool, check for any continuous memory diagnostic trouble codes (CMDTCs). Are any CMDTCs present?
- Yes – this article does not apply, refer to Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics.
- No – proceed to Step 2.
- Remove the front end accessory drive (FEAD) belt. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-05.
- Start the engine, increase the engine speed to 1500-2000 RPM. Is a whistle noise present from the intake manifold near the electronic throttle body (ETB)?
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to PC/ED manual for normal diagnostics.
- Yes – proceed to Step 4.
- Replace the intake manifold. Refer to WSM, Section 303-01.
- Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve from the original intake manifold and install it on the new intake manifold. Install new self-tapping screws and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Refer to WSM, Section 303-13.

- For best performance, follow the manufacturer's recommendations in your vehicle owner’s manual.
- Cleans, restores, protects the entire fuel system (fuel injectors, carburetors, intake valves and combustion chambers)
- Restores: lost power, acceleration, lost fuel economy, and operation of the fuel gauge sensor
- Reduces: rough idle, engine surge, hesitation, and spark plus fouling
- Improves: cold start performance, and fuel stability for up to one year

- DEEP FUEL SYSTEM CLEANING - Cleans the entire fuel system (injectors, carburetor passageways, intake valves, and chamber areas) to help restore power, MPG, and throttle response.
- FUEL ADDITIVE FOR GASOLINE AND DIESEL ENGINES - Breaks down fuel residues and varnish for smoother idling and cleaner combustion in gasoline and diesel engines.
- OIL TREATMENT FOR ENGINE CLEANING - Cleans sludge and deposits that can restrict oil flow and lubrication in motor oil crankcases, helping support longer engine life in car and truck engines.
- FUEL STABILIZER - Keeps gas or diesel fresh for up to 2 years. Ideal as a fuel stabilizer and gas stabilizer for stored cars, motorcycles, and generators.
- SAFE FOR ALL ENGINES & FUELS - Compatible with all gasoline and diesel fuels and blends, including E10 and E85. Trusted for use as a gasoline and diesel fuel additive.
