Ford
has manufactured brake rotors with coating on the brake surface to protect from corrosion during shipping and storage.
Engineering has determined that the coating is no longer needed and has removed it from future production.
Service stock may be mixed with coated and non-coated rotors for a period of time.
If you receive coated brake rotors -remove the coating by burnishing the Brake pads (5-10 stops from 30 mph) or by using Motorcraft Metal Brake Cleaner prior to returning the vehicle to the customer.

I am a mechanic and my boss will not listen even though multiple people have told him this. Is this an official ford statement? is there an ssm or gsb number that will verify this? or anything official really
This is from Ford OASIS Broadcast Message, I will try to find the Number.
