2016 MKX – Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0198 Stored In The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) With No Observable Customer Symptoms
Some 2016 MKX vehicles may have a DTC U0198 stored in the APIM module with no other DTCs or observable customer symptoms.
Disregard DTC U0198 on vehicles that are not equipped with a Telematics Control Unit (TCU).
DTC U0198 will not cause any observable customer symptoms and will not cause any malfunction indicator lamps (MIL) to illuminate on vehicles not equipped with a TCU.
Only 2016 MKX vehicles equipped with the Reserve or Black Label equipment package are equipped with a TCU.
To determine what equipment package the vehicle is equipped with, accessthe Historical Vehicle Bill of Materials (HVBOM) through OASIS and view the Window Sticker.
For 2016 MKX vehicle equipped with the Reserve or Black Label equipment package, proceed with normal diagnostic for DTC U0198.
