Summary
Some 2018-2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine may experience low oil pressure at idle after an oil change. This condition may be caused by a broken anti-drain back oil plug in the oil filter adapter. The anti-drain back oil plug is now available to be serviced separately from the oil filter adapter. To correct this condition, follow this service procedure to replace the anti-drain back oil plug.

Issue: Some 2018-2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine may experience low oil pressure at idle after an oil change. This condition may be caused by a broken anti-drain back oil plug in the oil filter adapter. The anti-drain back oil plug is now available to be serviced separately from the oil filter adapter. To correct this condition, follow this service procedure to replace the anti-drain back oil plug.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet the following criteria:

Service Procedure
1. Remove the oil filter cap and the oil filter.
2. Inspect the inside bottom of the oil filter adapter for a broken anti-drain back oil plug. Is the plug damaged?
(1). Yes – proceed to Step 3.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Proceed to Step 4 and continue with diagnostics. Refer to WSM, Section 303-00 Engine System > General Information, Diagnosis and Testing.
3. Remove and discard the damaged anti-drain back oil plug and replace it with a new anti-drain back oil plug.

4. Reinstall the oil filter and oil filter cap.
5. Check the oil level at normal engine operating temperature. Is the oil level at the proper level?
(1). Yes – repair is complete.
(2). No – add engine oil until the proper engine oil level is achieved.
