2008-2010 – 6.4L Diesel – Hard Start And/Or Runs Rough – After Rocker Arm Pedestal Assembly Replacement
Some 2008-2010 F-super duty vehicles equipped with a 6.4L powerstroke diesel engine can exhibit the following conditions after rocker pedestal replacement:
Hard start, crank no start, runs rough, and/or engine knocking.
These concerns may be due to improper pedestal height causing the intake or exhaust valves to hang open.
If the above issues are identified after rocker pedestal replacement, please inspect the bottom of the new rocker pedestal(s) to determine if they are marked with a heart shaped indentation in the middle of the casting.
Pedestals marked with a heart shape in the casting should not be used, and will require replacement.
