ISSUE:
Some 2013 Focus vehicles equipped with a 2.0L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine, and built on or before 5/17/2013, may exhibit an illuminated MIL on with CMDTC P0118 stored in powertrain control module (PCM) memory.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure step to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Scan Tool check for CMDTCs. Is P0118 stored in PCM memory?
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis manual for normal diagnostics.
- Yes – replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-14.
