ISSUE:
Some 2013-2014 F-150 and Mustang
vehicles equipped with a 3.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) or 5.0L engines built on or before 3/13/2013, F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and built on or before 10/5/2013 and Mustang vehicles equipped with a 3.7L engine and built on or before 8/1/2013 may exhibit a transmission squawk-type noise during a 5-3 downshift event.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- NOTE THE KIT CONTAINS TWO SYRINGES. THE SYRINGE WITH ADDITIVE F IS TO BE USED FOR THIS PROCEDURE AND ONLY 9 – 10 ML SHOULD BE ADDED. THE ADDITIVE T IS A TRACER WHICH IS PART OF THE KIT PACKAGE AND IS NOT USED.Add 9 – 10 mL of Motorcraft 6R ATF additive to the transmission. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.
- Fill plug should only be removed with the engine running.
