ISSUE:
Some 2012-2014 Focus vehicles may exhibit a customer concern of early shut-off of the fuel filler nozzle or slow fuel fill.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Does the customer state the fuel filler nozzle consistently shuts off early while trying to fill the fuel tank?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this procedure does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-00 for normal diagnostics.
- Disconnect and remove the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister fresh air vent hose. From the canister end of hose, blow the vent hose out with shop air.
- Inspect the screen at the open end of fresh air vent hose. Is the interior of the screen contaminated with debris or a spider nest?

- Yes – replace the EVAP canister fresh air vent hose.
- No – install and connect the EVAP canister fresh air vent hose. Refer to WSM, Section 310-00 for normal diagnostics.
