Summary
Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost or 3.5L PowerBoost and built on or before 31-Mar-2021 may experience an external loss of coolant. This may be due to a leak in the degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and thermostat housing. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect and replace the left degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and thermostat housing.

Issue: Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost or 3.5L PowerBoost and built on or before 31-Mar-2021 may experience an external loss of coolant. This may be due to a leak in the degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and thermostat housing. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to inspect and replace the left degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and thermostat housing.
Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition if the vehicle meets all of the following criteria:

Service Procedure
1. Inspect the degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and thermostat housing for a leak located near the internal flow restrictor. Is there a leak located near the internal flow restrictor in the degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and thermostat housing? (Figure 1)

(1). Yes – proceed to Step 2.
(2). No – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-03C for 3.5L EcoBoost or Section 303-03D for 3.5L V6 PowerBoost for normal diagnostics.
2. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to WSM, Section 303-03C for 3.5L EcoBoost or Section 303-03D for 3.5L V6 PowerBoost.
3. Release the hose clamps and disconnect the degas bottle hose from the degas bottle and the thermostat housing. (Figure 2)

4. Connect a replacement degas bottle hose between the degas bottle and the thermostat housing and secure the hose clamps. (Figure 2)
5. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to WSM, Section 303-03C for 3.5L EcoBoost or Section 303-03D for 3.5L V6 PowerBoost.
