2015-2016 Mustang/Focus – With 4.2″ SYNC Display – SYNC Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) Programming Using Front SYNC Universal Serial Bus (USB) Port
The Workshop Manual for 2015-2016 Mustang and Focus vehicles equipped with a 4.2″ display has the incorrect SYNC programming procedure in Section 415-00.
When programming the APIM the SYNC USB 2.0 A Male to A Male Cable must be connected to the front SYNC USB port located below the climate control panel.
Attempts to program vehicles with 4.2” display using the USB port located below the center storage bin arm rest will result in an error message of – communication to the CIPhas failed.
If an error occurs when using the front SYNC USB port refer to the SYNC – Software Programming v1.1 Job Aid located within the Technical Specialty/Electrical Section of the Service Tips tab on PTS site for further assistance.
The Workshop Manual is being updated to reflect the correct programming procedure for vehicles equipped with a 4.2” display
