This article supersedes TSB 14-0182 to add a production fix date, update the vehicle model year, Issue Statement, Service Procedure and Part List.
ISSUE:
Some 2013-2015 Escape vehicles equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD) and built on or before 3/20/2015 may exhibit rear drive unit (RDU) gear whine at any speed.
ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
- Does the vehicle exhibit a gear whine noise from the RDU at any speed?
- Yes – proceed to Step 2.
- No – this article does not apply. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 for normal diagnostics.
- Replace the RDU front bushings with updated parts. Refer to WSM, Section 502-00.
