Hi I’m Sandy – Received letter first week of Feb. 2018, called Ford dealer and said part was on backorder. Finally got part in after many calls and was Safety Recall 16S41/ NHTSA Recall 16V-777, part fixed on 6/19/18. Got home there is a gas smell in my garage next morning, waited thinking would clear up. Called and took car in on 8/16/18, they say nothing wrong part installed ok. Car still smells like gas, even when down to 3/4 of a tank of gas. It is now Sept. 2018, and winter is coming. Do I take back into Ford and be persistent until this problem is fixed?

Sounds like you have a problem with the vent valve, or a kinked hose to the vent valve.

I just had mine done on wed, i went to get gas on firday. The nozzle is telling the pump my tank is full when i know it’s pretty close to empty, would the replacement part possibly cause this?

16S41 recall – 2010 Ford Escape. Received letter in December 2017. Called my dealer Kenny Ross today, 3/8/18 for an appointment. They tell me they do not have the part and that we will receive another letter from you. How long must we wait for this part to come in? This sounds like you will have a lot of unsafe vehicles on the road. Do not understand that you do not have this part yet as it looks like this is now going on two years that you are waiting for this part. You are an automobile manufacturer, why can’t this be made to repair these vehicles?
