TSB 14-0112 EARLY SHUT-OFF OF THE FUEL FILLER NOZZLE OR SLOW FUEL FILL

 

FORD: 2012-2014 Focus

 

ISSUE:

Some 2012-2014 Focus vehicles may exhibit a customer concern of early shut-off of the fuel filler nozzle or slow fuel fill.

 

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

 

SERVICE PROCEDURE

  1. Does the customer state the fuel filler nozzle consistently shuts off early while trying to fill the fuel tank?
    1. Yes – proceed to Step 2.
    1. No – this procedure does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 310-00 for normal diagnostics.
  1. Disconnect and remove the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister fresh air vent hose. From the canister end of hose, blow the vent hose out with shop air.
  1. Inspect the screen at the open end of fresh air vent hose. Is the interior of the screen contaminated with debris or a spider nest?
    1. Yes – replace the EVAP canister fresh air vent hose.
    1. No – install and connect the EVAP canister fresh air vent hose. Refer to WSM, Section 310-00 for normal diagnostics.

140112A 2012-2014 Focus: Disconnect And Blow Air Through The Carbon Canister Fresh-Air Vent Hose. Replace The Carbon Canister Fresh-Air Vent Hose (Do Not Use With Any Other Labor Operations) 0.3 Hr.

Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage.
Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
